Independent Regulatory Testing Confirms Compliance

At Tokai Carbon, environmental responsibility is a top priority. Local regulatory agencies, including the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), have conducted extensive air quality testing around our facility. The results? Zero findings of concern.

This independent verification confirms that our More than $225 million Clean Air System project is effectively reducing emissions and maintaining clean air standards well below regulatory limits.

Tokai Carbon

General information

  • You may have noticed a change in the skyline at the plant since the Clean Air System started operation in late 2023.
  • The flue gas from the Clean Air System equipment now exits the stack at a much lower temperature (about 220 oF) and at a higher moisture content (about 25%). Thus, the flue gas now may be visible on cold days or when certain atmospheric conditions exist.
  • The overall emissions from the plant are now much less than before the Clean Air System equipment was installed, which is a major benefit to the environment.
  • The vast majority of the visible plume content is water vapor or water droplets.

Addis Plant Benefits
and Community Involvement

We have annually been a Platinum sponsor of Addis’ “Rockin' on the Railroad celebrations”
